Cadet Training delivered through The Ship Safe Training Group

All of our Cadets receive their training through The Ship Safe Training Group (SSTG) with sponsorship from Global Marine. This program offers a blend of academic study at a UK nautical college and practical, hands-on experience aboard one of our ships at sea.

SSTG’s highly respected training programs provide internationally recognized qualifications. You’ll gain real-world responsibility while working on our advanced vessels, developing personal skills that open doors to various global career opportunities.

As an SSTG sponsored Cadet, all your study fees and expenses are covered, and you’ll receive a training allowance from Global Marine.

Global Marine Cadetships 

For four decades, our Cadetship programmes have seen hundreds of Deck, Marine and Electro Technical (ETOs) Cadets complete their training and embark on successful careers at sea. We are proud to share that some of the brightest and best of these Cadets have joined the Global Marine Group post-cadetship.

Our commitment to providing talented young Cadets with opportunities for growth and hands-on experience aboard our global fleet of specialised cable vessels remains steadfast. Currently, we have 18 future seafarers enrolled in our Cadetship programmes.

Our Cadets learn through a combination of on and off-the-job education and training. On the job, Cadets work aboard our vessels alongside staff, gaining essential practical skills for their maritime career. The rest of their course is spent with industry-experienced tutors at our partner college, learning on a day-release basis.

Global Marine currently partners with the South Shields Marine School to deliver our Cadet programmes.
